Bar Harbor - Cadillac Mountain: From our home base in Rockland, we headed north to Acadia National Park. Cadillac Mountain is in the park, and is the highest point on the Atlantic Coast north of Brazil. The mountain overlooks Bar Harbor which unfortunately is overrun with tourists even in early June. It must be impossible in July and August. |

Boothbay Harbor: South of Rockland is the picturesque village of Boothbay Harbor. Just outside of town is an aquarium which features local sea creatures. The jellyfish look like ghosts, or maybe models for spaceships. The blue lobster is a one in a million occurrence. |

Lighthouses: These are lighthouses we saw in mid-coast Maine. They are in Rockland, Rockport, Owl's Head, and Port Clyde. The lighthouse on the left is connected to our home base by a long rock breakwater. |

Camden: This is the best kept secret on the Maine coast. Besides beautiful scenery, there is good shopping and excellent restaurants. The long range shot is from Mount Battie where we hiked on the park trails. It was the spot that inspired Edna St. Vincent Millay. |

Boat Ride: Al and Annie Posnack stopped by with their ocean-going power boat and took us out on a day's excursion. First we motored up to scenic Rockport harbor, then headed out into a calm sea to the Fox Island Thoroughfare, an interesting navigational challenge. After an idyllic lunch in Pulpit Harbor, we land at North Haven Island for a look around. |
